Cultural Diversity Has Impacted The Country - 1460 Words

Culture is cultivated behavior that is learned through the behaviors, beliefs, and values that one accepts, without thought, and is passed down from one generation to the next. Culture is shared knowledge amongst large groups of people through communication and imitation. Ultimately, culture is a way of life and is revealed through people’s skills, knowledge, attitudes, values, and motives. â€Å"The essential core of culture consists of traditional ideas and especially their attached values; culture systems may, on the one hand, be considered as products of action, on the other hand, as conditioning influences upon further action† (tamu ). The United States of America was built on one particular culture, but there are a multitude of†¦show more content†¦The radical transformations in status and reputation of its global role are being challenged which challenge influences of the cultural diversity in today’s America. â€Å"The diversification of cul tural forms, particularly in visual and digital media, and broader horizons about what constitutes cultural production have contributed to an environment in which being black, poor, female or gay (at least in theory) no longer stands in the way of talent or strength of vision† (Contemporary, 2008). This theory together with Snibbe’s theory, â€Å"the study of how cultural meanings, practices, and institutions influence and reflect individual human psychologies† (A.C., 2003), introduces culture globally rather than isolated. Today’s technology allows all people to view different lands and cultures and form opinions on them. Since the United States of America is the land of the free, citizens are allowed to express their own culture individually and collectively. American culture is being lost and forgotten because culture practiced behavior and its influences have been compromised as of late to embrace the diverse ethnic and religious groups of people t hat have settled on its land. Now that there are new ways of thinking, cultural psychologists say that culture shapes the individual’s mind and behavior as much as the individual shapes the culture.
